How to Choose Your First Pickleball Paddle in India

How to Choose Your First Pickleball Paddle in India

Pickleball is growing fast in India — and if you're just starting out,
the hardest part isn't learning the game. It's figuring out which paddle
to buy.

Here's a simple guide to help you decide.

Thickness: 16mm vs 12mm

The thickness of your paddle changes how it feels completely.

A 16mm paddle has a bigger, softer sweet spot. Mis-hits still go where
you want them to. This is ideal if you're a beginner — it gives you
confidence while your technique develops.

A 12mm paddle is thinner and snappier. Shots feel more direct and
powerful. Better for intermediate players who want more aggression
in their game.

Face Material: Fibreglass vs Carbon Fiber

Fibreglass faces are smooth and give you great control. Perfect for
learning the basics — dinks, drops, and consistent rallies.

Carbon fiber faces are textured, which creates more spin and friction
on the ball. Advanced players love this. But it takes technique to
use well.

Our Recommendation for Beginners

Start with the Smashkari range. The Elephant 16mm is our most
popular beginner paddle — forgiving, well-balanced, and honestly
one of the best-looking paddles on any court in India.

Once you've played 20–30 games and feel confident, move up to the
Tiger 12mm or explore the Pinaka for serious play.

Try Before You Buy

At Sprentzo, every paddle has been tested by our community of 5,000+
players across 55+ courts in India. We don't list anything that hasn't
earned its place in real games.

Still not sure? Take our Paddle Finder Quiz and we'll tell you exactly
what to get.
