Sporting Culture in Bengaluru

Sporting Culture in Bengaluru

I spent over a decade playing football in Pune representing my school, college, and clubs, eventually competing in the PDFA Super Division. Football was always competitive, but when I moved to Bangalore, I realized the sporting culture here was on a completely different level.

From structured leagues across all age groups to a year-long calendar of tournaments, Bangalore feels like a complete sports ecosystem. Players from across India come here not just to play, but to build a career. I was one of them moving cities with the dream of playing professional football.

While competing in the A Division, I got an unexpected opportunity. My teammate Pravruth, now my co-founder, introduced me to his company, Sprentzo. What started as an internship quickly became a turning point. I still remember my first day at WeWork. It was my first glimpse into the world beyond the pitch.

As I balanced football with my MBA, I found myself increasingly drawn to the business side of sports. Today, I work full-time at Sprentzo as a Financial Analyst, while also managing sports communities.

Sprentzo is a community-led, D2C sports equipment and lifestyle brand, and being part of it has allowed me to experience sport in a whole new way. From organizing national-level pickleball tournaments and the Peakst8 event by Zerodha to hosting 50+ community games, Iโ€™ve seen how powerful sports can be in bringing people together.

Beyond work, the city constantly reminds you why it stands out. In just a few days, I witnessed the energy of the IPL, the passion of the ISL, and the spirit of the TCS Marathon. Bangalore doesnโ€™t just host sports, it lives them.

Looking back, I came here chasing football. But I found something bigger: a city where sport, business, and community come together seamlessly.
